Report from the NW

Unfortunately, I have been extremely busy with work again these last couple of months, which frequently takes me away from the region, and my MAG commitments. What spare time I have had has been spent lobbying MEP/MP’s over the 3rd DLD, and feeding back info to TB. Have tried to assist Sarah with info on PTW parking in region, but still waiting for feedback from most groups. As far as events go;

August 2005

Had the 3m MAG  stall down at a couple of the “Fylde Coast Motorcycle Monday Night Meets”, and generated a lot of interest, selling raffle tickets, and signing up a few members. Even got our picture on their web-site.

September 2005

            Spent the first week helping out at “Stormin’ the Castle” rally again, and had an excellent time, as usual.

Red Rose MAG arranged for the MAG stall to be present at the BMF Motorcycle show at Rawtenstall for the second consecutive year. Membership signings were down on last year, but this could have been down to the stalls poor location this year.

Future events include;

October 2005.

 I have been invited by Lancashire Police to a meeting at their HQ at Hutton, Preston. Other key biking organisations such as the Lancashire Partnership for Road Safety, I.A.M. (Group and Regional), BMF, etc. will also be in attendance. There will be a presentation on the current situation in Lancashire in terms of biker deaths which will include causation factors etc. There will also be a presentation of the results of research that has been conducting over the summer months at various bike meets. This will be followed by an open discussion to look at various options for developing a casualty reduction strategy for implementation next year. This may include revamping the Rider Skills Workshops in partnership with the participating groups.

November 2005 is our regional AGM. I have made it known that if anyone in the region wishes to stand for the position of Regional Rep, and they can give more time and commitment to the post, then I will gladly step aside, as I feel that I am struggling to keep up with the amount of work involved with the position, due to my work commitments. On the other hand, if there are no volunteers, then I will be glad to stay on for a further 12 months.
