NW Report April/May 2010

9th April -Mag Board Meeting

I attended the MAG UK board meeting, minutes available on MAG UK web-site. http://www.mag-uk.org

10th April -Mag NC Meeting & AGM/AGC,

I attended the MAG UK NC meeting and the AGM/AGC, held this year at Alcester, just south of Birmingham, minutes available on MAG UK web-site. http://www.mag-uk.org

25th April RideSafe Rendezvous, Seasiders Way, Blackpool

The RSBS Rendezvous held its 5th annual event at a new location in Central Blackpool which attracted thousands riders. NW MAG was once again invited to attend and thankfully we had plenty of willing volunteers able to support. This is a free event, and we had a very successful day, distributing stacks of MAG literature and signing up plenty of new members.

6th-9th May NABD Rally, Astle Park

As one of our regular pitches, the NW MAG stall was present to offer many existing members the opportunity to renew as well as picking up plenty of new members. The rally was once again a resounding success, and a credit to the NABD team who put on an excellent event.

21st-23rd May Leyland Eagles Rally, Garstang, Preston

This is one of the local events we attend with the MAG stall, and although we do not normally pick up many members, it is probably due to the fact that most there are already on the books, but we feel it is important for us to be there. Pick up plenty of renewals though.

Other Business around the region

Manchester MAG has moved their meeting place to The Station pub, Warrington Street, Ashton-Under-Lyne, OL6 6XB. The group is going well with a good core attendance and plenty of good ideas. They have re-branded themselves the MAG MAGSTERS, just hope we’re not infringing any copywrites?

I have been in discussions from an ex-MAG member who wants to start up a local group in the Warrington Area although I am waiting for him to renew his membership before taking it any further.

Still trying to pursue the new group start up on the Wirral, and hoping for some assistance on the Lancaster/Morecambe group as this has gone a bit quite. Blackburn is ticking along, and Blackpool Mag has just elected a new rep, details to follow as soon as I get his MORF form registered.

Busy helping to organize Blackpool MAG’s 6th Sinful Fun n Frolics on the Fylde, but in-between, will be off to the TTs for a couple of weeks. If any of you are over there, we will be running the MAG stall at the Streetfighter Challenge 6/6/10, Ramsey Sprint 8/6/10 and the TT Motorcycle show at Laxey 10/6/10.

I won’t be back in time for NC as celebrating 1st wedding anniversary over on the Island, after the races have finished. Not having a lot of luck finding a deputy to represent NW but no surprise there then?
