NW Report October/November 2010

8th October –MAG-UK Board meeting

I attended the Board meeting at the MAG’s new premises at Warwick, details at MAG UK web-site. http://www.mag-uk.org

9th October  MAG UK NC Meeting

I attended the National Committee meeting, minutes available on MAG UK web-site. http://www.mag-uk.org

30th October- Blackpool MAG Halloween Party

This event clashed with another in the area and so it was decided to make it a free entry party with donations and raffle held to cover expenses. It was a great success with a couple of hundred pounds collected on the night, all profits going to MAG. Venue booked for same time next year.

21st November- North West MAG AGM, Blackburn

It was decided to hold the AGM at the Charles Napier Public House in Blackburn this year. The meeting was well attended, with Mr Ian Mutch, “El Presidente” in attendance as NC observer and guest speaker. All regional officers were voted back in on block. I made some good contacts which I hope will result in a couple of local groups re-forming.

Other Business around the region

Following the AGM, I have had contact from a member who is willing to take over the Wirral & Chester MAG local reps position. This group has not been active for a while now and I am hoping that the new rep can generate more interest in the area. There is also interest from a Liverpool member who may be able to re-launch Liverpool MAG.

Braving the ice & snow, a couple of us had a ride out to a new Biker Venue, the Coastal Café, Cropper Road, Blackpool. We had a good chat with Pete, the owner, and left him with magazines, leaflets and “MAG Members Welcome” stickers. Pete is keen for the local MAG group to hold their meetings there, which is being considered. The rep from Blackpool Mag has stood down for personal reasons and so we are presently looking for a replacement. A local AGM is scheduled for January 2011.

Red Rose MAG now has a willing volunteer who is attending night school in order to learn how to construct and maintain a local web-site for the group. I am trying to support as much as possible

When time allows, I have been trying to make some sense of the MAG database, but it is very fragmented and working remotely is proving to be very difficult. I am also still trying to get the NW web-site up to date and populate it with useful information. Personal circumstances may mean that my MAG activities may be severely curtailed next year and so I am urgently looking for a willing member to assist me in the Regional Reps role.

Planning is already well underway for next years “Fun n Frolics” Rally which promises to be bigger and better than ever!
