NW Report April-May 2011

8th April Board meeting-AGC Beverley

I attended the Board meeting the night before AGC at Beverley .Minutes will be available at http://www.mag-uk.org.

9th April 2011 NC & AGC meetings Beverley

I attended the NC meetings and AGC at Beverley RUFC. Minutes of meeting will be available on MAG UK web-site. http://www.mag-uk.org

17th April 2011, Wirral Egg Run, New Brighton.

I was unable to attend this event due to my involvement with Jesters MCC rock night on the same weekend, but did manage to get the NW stall and all associated equipment down to the new Wirral & Chester MAG group who ran the stall at Clatterbridge Hospital. From all accounts, the event was well attended, we picked up a couple of memberships and sold some MAG merchandise, whilst distributing plenty of MAG information.

5th-8th May 2011 NABD Rally, Astle Park, Cheshire.

.           Took the NW MAG stall to this event and had a very successful rally with plenty of new members signing up along with the usual renewals. The MAG MA1 jackets that we have had made up were popular items due to the inclement weather.

13th-15th May 2011 The Naked Eagle Rally, Garstang, Lancs.

Once again we were asked to take MAG stall to this affiliated club’s rally. We picked up a few new memberships over the weekend and also some more renewals.

Other news from around the region

I have been in discussions with various bike clubs and the main MC in the region about the proposed coalition, although there has been nothing decided upon as yet. It has been a good opportunity to clear the air over a number of other issues, and I feel a lot more comfortable with the situation now, especially around the Blackpool Area.

Wirral & Chester MAG are doing well. Manchester MAG are struggling and we may soon be losing the local rep Jax as she and hubby are moving out of the area. Red Rose MAG are steady as ever and looking at re-vitalising their web-site, with my assistance.

I have been asked to support an event in Morecambe next month but it clashes with an event in Rochdale that I have already committed to supporting and so the MAG rep of the affiliated Morecambe & District (MAD) MCC (you don’t have to be, but it helps!) is going to run the stall on behalf of NW MAG. Hopefully this is the start of more help in the North of the regionJ.

I am highlighting the threat of compulsory “Day-Glow” during my visits to various meets and events and it certainly seems to be touching a raw nerve with most I talk to. This issue could be the catalyst that pulls us together as a biking community to say enough is enough.

Not sure if the forms have arrived at Central yet, “The Lost Souls MCC” should hopefully have affiliated by now. I have been trying to convince them to affiliate for a while now and hoping that recent meetings and information given has tipped the balance.

Extremely busy trying to get everything ready for Blackpool Area MAG Rally in a few weeks. Trying a few new things this year and so more organising than usual is required.

See you all at the weekend (hopefully),

Tony Cox
