NW Report February-March 2013

8th February:- Board Meeting, MAG Central, Hatton.

I attended the Board meeting, minutes at www.mag-uk.org

9th-February: - National Committee meeting, Shrewley Village Hall

I attended the MAG NC meeting, minutes on www.mag-uk.org

10th February: - The 9th NW Fred Hill Run, Blackburn Cathedral

This event was well attended once again. The agenda included a marshalled ride from the meeting point at the Charles Napier to Blackburn Cathedral for a concise service conducted by Red Rose MAG Rep, Bill Green and Bishop Michael. Then it was back to the Napier for drinks and food.

19th February: - RideSafe BackSafe Forum, Leyland

The RSBS initiative has collated sufficient funding to carry on operations around the NW region with new promotional material being produced.

24th February:- Moto-crossing accident in North Wales

A group of us from the Blackpool Area travelled to North Wales to enjoy a day out on the off road bikes up and down the tracks and trails. Unfortunately the weather/ground conditions were not ideal and I sustained serious pelvic injuries as the result of a bad spill near the top of one of these trails. The damage sustained meant I was hospitalised for a number of weeks and many of my plans for activities around the region had to be cancelled.

23rd 24th March: - Manchester Event City Bike Show

Due to my injuries, I was not able to run the MAG stand at this event, but thankfully Neil Stephenson was able to stand in and we had a presence at this show. Volunteers from the NW were on hand to help Neil, and from all reports, it was a good show.

Other news from around the region

As mentioned earlier in the report I have not been able to get about as much as I would have liked to over the past few months, but I should soon be back on my feet again. I have been busy working on the NW web-site and caretaking the main MAG web-site to help out at Central. I have also been selling the Official MAG 40th Patches on-line and have made over £100 profit to date over the last few weeks! I have managed to get out to a few local meetings thanks to friends running me about.

Manchester MAG has a bike show coming up soon at their meeting pub, The Station, which I am hoping to help out at with the MAG stand. Blackpool MAG seems to have most things sorted out for the “Big Birthday Bash” and we have offers of help from all the other MAG groups from the NW and Cumbria plus a few of the local MCCs.

Best Regards,

Tony Cox
NW Regional Rep.
