I took the MAG stand down to
this event and ran it with Dave Wigham over the four
day event. Moderate interest, a few members taken and merchandise sold. Missed
the Board and NC meeting as a consequence.
I was approached over 12
months ago about MAG helping to run this show and we have been involved ever
since. For its first year it went very well with many thousands visiting over
the weekend and the Saturday evening entertainment selling out We picked up a lot of new members as well as a
few renewals, and got the message out to many more. I got to interview Carl
Fogarty on the main stage on the Sunday afternoon which was quite daunting, but
exiting at the same time. Still not managed to get him to sign up yet. Hopefully
the show will now become a regular annual event with the support of Blackpool
Council
Myself and other members of
Blackpool MAG provided security on bikes for this this year’s Illumi-thon Memory walk up and down Blackpool Prom by 400 +
ladies dressed in neon, 10pm-2am on a Saturday night when all the pubs and
clubs are turning out. Quite an experience and great PR for MAG
Had the MAG stand at this
event but had to juggle between this and marshalling the event being a member
of Jesters. Still plenty of interest and stock sold
I helped road marshal this is
an annual ride through the lights which is normally used to raise funds for NW
Blood Bikes. This year at the eleventh hour, they decided that they did not
want to be involved and so we stepped in and made it a fund raising event for
the MAG Foundation and raised close to £200 on the night.
Attended the AGC in Manea, very good meeting. I have put myself forward as a
Trustee for the foundation and will be working with Fin Coulson & Rory
Wilson on a few ventures.
Once again NW MAG were asked
to road marshal this event which took 70+ bikes through 120 miles of fantastic
country side to Hartside Café. Good PR for MAG and I
won an award !
The Morecambe Rep Kev Hyde
ran the MAG stand at this event. I was there more as a punter. Kev is having a
bit of a re-launch of the group and renaming it (Morecambe And District) MAD
MAG and he is also planning on getting Mobile Chaos members more involved with
activities as they are a MAG affiliated group.
Still struggling to get anywhere with the new
web-site which was close to completion until the author decided that he did not
have time to complete. The new database and membership self-service portal
seems to be running ok. I am continuing to keep the National web-site
up-to-date with the news items and meeting/contact details as well as the
affiliated clubs page.
I am
getting more involved with Foundation activities after volunteering to become a
trustee at AGC and working with Rory & Fin. Projects we are working on
include
·
Continuing to
help produce and distribute the monthly NW Newsletter with Bill Green. Past
issues can be viewed on the North-West MAG website
·
Kev Hyde is
planning on producing some MAD MAG products
·
Red Rose MAG are
running a Christmas Raffle
·
Blackpool MAG
have booked Blackpool RUFC for our annual Halloween and Bonfire Party on 4th
November.
·
All other NW
groups are quite but functional.
Best Regards,
Tony.
