North West Reps Report December-January 2018

8th -9th December: - MAG Board & NC Meetings, Wren Hall, Wroxhall.

I didn’t attended the Board & NC Meetings due to other personnel commitments and a stand-in could not be found. Minutes will be available at www.mag-uk.org

24th January Alliance meeting Northside Devil Disciples, Bolton

A very well attended meeting as many are of late. This monthly meeting is now booked at various locations well into 2019 which shows how popular it is. Had plenty of Blackpool MAG Rally flyers to distribute as it is clashing with another event this year and wanted to get the word out early on our Rally

26-28th January Moddey Dhoo Late Christmas Party, Douglas Isle of Man

This was very much a social occasion but with a hidden agenda as I went looking for support in my planned visit during the TTs and I received a lot of encouragement from the MDMCC members many of whom were former Manx MAG members before the split on the island. I am still trying to contact the ex-Manx MAG treasurer as there is still a bank account on the Isle of Man which comes in very useful when selling goods during the TT festival as it negates having to apply and pay for a traders license.

MAG Foundation

We are planning on holding an AGC on the Saturday morning of the February NC meeting. All interested are welcome to attend.

National IT Matters

We have had a few issues with the MariaDB database server crashing which Andy Meredith has resolved. Seems to have run trouble free since auto start enabled and the memory issues have been addressed.

Still trying to work on the new website but I am getting no assistance from anyone else and I am beginning to wonder if all the effort is worthwhile and if we need a new website? Even if we paid a professional outfit to produce a website, they would still need input from the organisation so if you want a website then tell me what you want and give me some content ideas ???

 I am continuing to keep the National web-site up-to-date with the news items and meeting/contact details as well as the affiliated clubs page until the new site is ready for release , hopefully early next year.

Other News and future events;

·         I was contacted by a member from the Merseyside area, concerned about the level of aggressive bike theft in the area he works in. I have been back in touch with my contacts within Merseyside Police and we are looking at working together on a number of initiatives, possibly involving the Foundation Have contacted and involved Steve Bolton as attended the Police conference with me last year and knows the contacts.

·         Continue to work on MAG at the TTs project for 2018 with additional pages and advertising in the April edition of the Road. £275 of advertising sold so far !

·         Busy promoting the Manchester Event City Bike Show 24-25th March 2018 as a contra-deal worth £1200 of free stand space.

·         Red Rose MAG ran a Christmas Raffle which raised £250. They are also organising a St George’s Rock Knight on Saturday 28th April. I will be resident DJ.

·         Blackpool MAG busy planning the 21st consecutive rally, last weekend in June, two weeks after the FYP this year so may hopefully get a few more from across the Pennines attending? Special rates on ticket price will be offered to FYP Marshalls.
